Maël Montevil is currently a researcher at Institut de Recherche et d'Innovation.
Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at MSC, Paris Diderot, funded by the Labex "Who AM I?", before he was a postdoctoral fellow at IHPST, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, on a grant from DIM-ISC of the île-de-France region and before a postdoctoral associate in Tufts University, dept. of Anatomy and cell biology, Soto and Sonnenschein Lab.
Maël Montevil obtained his PHD under the supervision of Giuseppe Longo in LIENS, École Normale Supérieure and doctoral school Frontières du vivant, in Paris V, Descartes.
His core research interest is theoretical biology and the foundations of biological knowledge. His theoretical approaches to biology start with a critical and constructive reflection on the physical ways to obtain intelligibility of natural phenomena. Maël Montevil works on original theoretical proposals, which are largely distinct from the more classical biophysical approaches.
